Our History

McKinley Mutual Aid (MMA) was birthed from an intertribal, interfaith, and interracial group of volunteers.

Historically, the indigenous population was a proud people until colonization, mass genocide, the forced education, and other factors driving a once proud people into a shell of their former selves. Today, many indigenous tribes suffer from a lack of food security, equal access to education, and most importantly health care. For example, the Navajo Nation has scarce resources that it takes many individuals more than an hour to drive one way to access food and health care. Many individuals do not have access to a vehicle and rely on others for their needs.

MMA was established to help bridge the gap during the pandemic by supplying the community with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies and food care packages. A group of volunteers dedicated to providing equitable access to basic health and safety supplies.

Each nonprofit is contributing to grant writing, fundraising, supply chain, a compilation of boxes, and/or distribution of food, water, wood, PPE, and other supplies.
